Footprints scattered and erased with the tide,
There's wind and salt in the air at the seaside,
A couple walks along, holdings hands and smiling,
Listening to the ocean, because it's singing,
And dancing, meshing with the clouds and sky.
The waves wave, white foam hands to the night,
And mysterious shadows play, iridescent in the moonlight,
And the clouds hang low, resting atop the calm blue,
The tides trace slow, long lines across the view,
Making intricate patterns with watery fingers.
But the scene is too vast, too empty, too lonely,
I watch it all, and shout out; Im the only one,
I try to fill it with my noise, but stop. Too foolish,
One person can't. But she can always wish,
On stars and waves and kisses.
She can always pretend that someone, just like her,
Is sitting on the other side, talking in a whisper,
And maybe the ocean makes them sad, too,
Because despite its beauty, I'd rather be with you.
Warm at home, with you.

stepping stone
skipping stone
shatter the water like a heart of fluid glass
patterned haze
then merge with the dark
and we reflect about why
when moments of false clarity
dart in and out of sight
and hehe. thanks raff
